A native of upstate New York, Ms. Janiga has served 12 years with the Clark County School District as an Elementary School Teacher, ELL Specialist, Instructional Coach, and now the role of a School Counselor.

Her vast knowledge and experience in curriculum and instruction make her an asset to our students at Oran K. Gragson Elementary School.  As a current school counselor, her main priority is to ensure the safety and success of all students by developing positive relationships with the staff, students, and the community.  “As the role of a school counselor, my main focus is to offer advocacy and support, partner up with the school community to assist with student needs, and facilitate positive and productive change within our school culture.”  Ms. Janiga is  a firm believer in the three E’s to success: Empower all students, Encourage all students, and Embrace all students to become successful leaders in a diverse community.

As an elementary school counselor, Ms. Janiga works closely with the community to assist and support the students and their families. This year she has developed a Family Resource Room where children and families in need can receive clothing,  food, and hygiene items.

In her spare time, Ms. Janiga enjoys traveling, yoga, volunteer work, and is an avid hiker. Her most recent conquest was Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park (Utah).
